Tocumen International Airport, Panama City, Panama

The FaceFirst biometric facial recognition system has been successfully operating airport-wide in the Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, Panama. This system utilizes FaceFirst live facial recognition to identify and track persons of interest moving throughout the airport. This system, installed in 2011, equates to the largest live facial recognition system installed globally. with 200 cameras in operation throughout the airport.

The software has provided the following benefits for national security:

Enabled the capture of multiple Interpol suspects
Enabled the ongoing tracking and captures of multiple regional and nationally wanted persons
Enabled the geo-fencing of authorized people throughout the facility

These capabilities are especially vital due to the increasingly high volume of traffic through Tocumen International Airport, reaching approximately 7.8 million people in 2013 alone, and nearly doubling in size the last five years.

"The FaceFirst facial recognition system installed at Tocumen is capable of detecting 30 people per day who have a police record or who are wanted by Interpol, and thus are not allowed to enter the country," explained, Panama's Minister of Public Security.

"We are proud to be a part of this $936 million investment in the expansion of Tocumen International Airport,"

"The inclusion of our technology in this expansion is a testament to its beneficial influence on heightening border security and safety within nations."

The ability to detect wanted persons and allow airport security to extract them with minimal disturbance to other travelers has proven the value of FaceFirst and need in the newest terminal at the Tocumen airport.
